March for Meals is an annual campaign sponsored by the Meals on Wheels Association of America to stimulate public awareness of the Meals on Wheels program, recruit new volunteers, expand of community resources, and increase financial support. More than one thousand member agencies, including The Senior Hub, will be participating in this nationwide campaign.
We're pleased and excited to announce the Meals on Wheels Prize-Winning Recipe Contest! Submit your most fantastic recipes and win one of our terrific prizes. Your recipe may be just the spark our homebound client menu needs! Winners will be announced on Friday, March 25. Recipe categories are: Retro Entrees; Fiber Foods; Versatile Veggies; Quick and Easy Desserts. Be sure to include your name, address, and telephone number with your recipe contest entry. RECIPE CONTEST RUNS FROM MARCH 1 THROUGH MARCH 18, 2011. ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN MONDAY, MARCH 21!
Throughout the month of March, donate $5.00 to The Senior Hub Meals on Wheels program at Rosita's Mexican Restaurant in Westminster and place a cactus on the wall garden at the restaurant to purchase meals for homebound seniors.
Monday, March 21 will see Meals on Wheels volunteers honored at a special luncheon. Volunteers will be treated to a fun-filled motivational session provided by Denver's very own "Chicken Lips".
Tuesday, March 22 - Members of the media are invited to assist with meal delivery and will learn about the Meals on Wheels program.
Wednesday, March 23 is Mayors for Meals Day. Our volunteer delivery drivers will team up with the Mayors of Commerce City, Federal Heights, Northglenn, Thornton, and Westminster; Senior Hub Board Members, and other VIPs within our community to make home deliveries to our clients.
On Thursday, March 24, everyone is invited to eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner at Rosita's Mexican Restaurant, 8050 Federal Blvd in Westminster. A portion of your meal, at no additional cost to you, will be donated to The Senior Hub Meals on Wheels program. Friday, March 25 brings the announcement of the recipe contest winners and their prizes!
